Community Services Division

The Community Services Division consists of a Lieutenant, Sergeant, and two Police Officers. These officers are responsible for organizing community events, speaking at neighborhood meetings and special events, and conducting Pedestrian Safety Operations. Community Services officers may also assist patrol officers responding to calls for service and assist with vice/narcotics investigations.

The Community Services Division leads a number of programs and initiatives in the Town of Carrboro. Officers participate in the Watch For Me NC campaign, and implementing pedestrian and bicycle safety operations in numerous locations around Town. Officers also assist the Coalition for Alcohol and Drug Free Teens in Chapel Hill & Carrboro by participating in Alcohol Law Enforcement Response Team operations such as Driving While Impaired saturation patrols, underage drinking patrols and compliance checks.

The Community Services Division runs a variety of community programs and provides a number of non-traditional police services.  Some of these include:

  • Planning, attending or assisting in Community Watch meetings

  • Attending community special events such as Health and Wellness expos, the Latin American Festival at Town Commons and other similar events
  • Giving safety presentations at schools, nursing homes, workplaces and other similar venues
