Dave Otto has lived near Bolin Creek in Chapel Hill and Carrboro for 35 years. He retired last March after a career in environmental health research, in part, to pursue his passion for nature photography. For the past five years he has been working with the Friends of Bolin Creek, a grassroots citizen's group devoted to preserving the Bolin Creek corridor and adjacent woodlands. He uses digital photography as a tool to communicate the beauty and importance-ecological, recreational and historical-of this place in efforts to educate the public and convince local governments to preserve this natural treasure. To learn more about the artist and see more of his work, visit these websites: http://daveottophotos.com and www.bolincreek.org.

Valerie Tan is a self taught artist who has had a lifelong interest in the arts. She paints with acrylics and oilbars and has developed a naive style using "poster" colors and house / neighborhood themes. She has helped organize art events and has sold paintings locally. After several trials with different mediums and many migraines later she now paints exclusively in Acrylics. Her paintings are also inspired by her reality of being a mother of an eight year old child, who loves to read and be read to. The paintings have bright primitive colors oftenassociated with illustrations seen in children's books.

Feel free to visit these buildings during their operating hours.
