The Carrboro Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes. Mayor Lydia Lavelle proclaimed April 22, 2017 as “Earth Day” and “Your Bottle Means Jobs” day in Carrboro, NC. 

Anti-Corruption Resolution
The Board of Aldermen adopted a resolution as presented by the Raleigh chapter of Represent.Us

Ordinance Limiting Amount of Campaign Contributions to Candidates
The Board of Aldermen adopted an ordinance that limits the amount of campaign donations that a candidate for mayor or aldermen in the Town of Carrboro may accept to $250.00.

Appointments to Advisory Boards
Patrick Castonguay was appointed to the Transportation Advisory Board and Caitlin Gallagher was appointed to the Human Services Advisory Commission.

Public Hearing Scheduled for Land Use Ordinance Amendments Relating to Road and Sidewalk Requirements
The public hearing was scheduled for May 23, 2017 and the item referred to Orange County, the Planning Board and the Transportation Advisory Board for review.

Report on the Planning Board’s Walking Conversations
Andrew Whittemore, a Planning Board member, reported on the Walking Conversations that were held in October 2016 as part of National Planning Month.

Follow-Up Report on Human Services Funding
The Board of Aldermen directed the attorney to prepare an ordinance regarding the charge of the Human Services Advisory Commission and to bring it back to a future meeting. They also directed staff to provide them with the application from Orange County Food Council for Human Services funding and to include funding in the draft 17-18 budget.

Public Hearing Scheduled for the FoodFirst Conditional Rezoning at 110 West Main Street
The Board of Aldermen scheduled the public hearing for May 23, 2017 and referred the item to the Planning Board, the Appearance Commission, the Transportation Advisory Board, the Environmental Advisory Board and the Economic Sustainability Commission.
