| Orange County Animal Services is Moving |
New Location and New Standard Hours for Animal Services Beginning June 1st
The new state-of-the-art Animal Services Center, located at 1601 Eubanks Road, Chapel Hill, is set to open at noon on June 1st, 2009. Its spacious and modern design will house the Animal Shelter, Animal Control and Administrative staff under one roof for the first time since the department’s creation in 2005.
Also beginning June 1st, the hours that the new Center will be open to the public will be the same for both Animal Control and Sheltering Operations. Those hours are as follows:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 12 – 6 pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 12 – 7:30 pm
Saturday: 12 – 5
Sunday: Closed

| Taste of Hope Customer Assistance Program
for OWASA customers |
The Town of Carrboro encourages you to sign up as a donor in the Taste of Hope Program for Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) customers.
When you become a Taste of Hope donor, your monthly OWASA bill will be rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the added amount will go to the Inter-Faith Council to help low and moderate income families who are unable to pay their OWASA bills.
You may also contribute directly to the IFC if you do not receive OWASA bills or want to give a larger amount. |

| PUBLIC HEARING CONTINUED - TEXT AMENDMENT TO LAND USE ORDINANCE: Modifying provisions related to Water Quality Buffers |
The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Carrboro opened a public hearing on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 on amendments to the Carrboro Land Use Ordinance to repeal existing stream buffer provisions and replace them with comprehensive water quality buffer requirements that include zoned buffers, an extensive and detailed table of exempt and allowed activities, diffuse flow limitations, and the establishment of a mitigation program. The public hearing was continued to Tuesday, January 27, 2009 and again to March 24th, at which time the Board of Aldermen will receive public comment and decide whether or not to adopt the proposed amendments.
Substantial changes in the proposed amendment and to the Carrboro Land Use Ordinance may be made following the receipt of comments made at the public hearing. The full text of the proposed amendment and a map depicting the Town’s geographic mapping of the revised buffers is available in the Planning Department. | Shared Ride Transit Services |
The Town of Carrboro works with Chapel Hill Transit to provide Shared Ride on-demand transit services to areas of Carrboro that do not have fixed-route bus service.

Two types of Shared Ride services will be provided in Carrboro: Feeder Service and Evening/Sunday Service.
- Feeder Service, which is provided at no charge between 6:45 am and 6:15 pm on weekdays, provides trips between designated bus stops in the “feeder” zones and the nearest bus route or to another “feeder” zone.
- Evening/Sunday Service is provided to areas that do not have regular evening, Saturday, and Sunday bus service and requires that users pay with Chapel Hill Transit bus tickets (tickets can be purchased at Carrboro Town Hall and other locations).
Funding for the enhanced transit services are being provided through federal Congestion Mitigation / Air Quality (CMAQ) funds and a 50 percent local match from the Town of Carrboro.
