JULY 4TH VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED!

The Carrboro Recreation and Parks is seeking volunteers for its upcoming July 4th Celebration, which will take place on Saturday July 4, 2009 from 9:30am-3pm. Volunteers are needed to help with various tasks pertaining to the event. This will qualify for service learning hours. Volunteer hours can be scheduled in blocks of two hours or more.

We are in need of about 10 -15 volunteers.

If you can help us at all with the volunteer needs please contact Kim Andrews (Recreation Supervisor)

URGENT-Children's Activities: Volunteers are needed to assist with fun and interactive children's activities. These include: assistance with carnival games, crafts, tattoo booth, and face painting. Children activities are located at the Carrboro Town Commons and Weaver Street Market.

Stage Attendants: Volunteers are needed to help at the main stage or children's stage with loading and unloading of equipment.

Recycling/Litter Patrol: Volunteers will help with litter pick-up and recycling throughout the festival. Each volunteer will be provided a vest, gloves and a trash picker. This is a great opportunity to walk around the event and hear the music while still keeping Carrboro beautiful. This is also a good volunteer opportunity for groups.

Runners: Volunteers are needed to assist festival organizers at the main information table with getting other volunteers signed in, helping vendors find their placement and relieving staff during breaks. Runners may also be asked to deliver items between information tables and activities.
Hospitality: Volunteers will be needed to help with keeping drinks and food stocked for bands and volunteers while maintaining a clean environment.

Every effort is made to allow volunteers to choose where they want to volunteer.

The Carrboro Farmers' Market and Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department have been working hard to bring our citizens a unique arrangement!

The Carrboro Farmers Market will be holding a Special 4th of July Market in front of Town Hall on West. Main Street during the shortened market hours of
7am - 10am.

West Main Street will be blocked off during the hours to allow customer traffic for the 4th of July Carrboro Farmers Market.

So come on out and visit the Carrboro Farmers Market and continue your stay by celebrating the Fourth of July with us.

Scholarships are available for eligible families in Orange County to help children stay active and participate in local recreation programs. See Flyer for more information.
The Town of Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department is pleased to announce the opening of the Anderson Park Disc Golf Course. CARRBORO~ A BICYCLE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY

"The Town of Carrboro has made an ongoing commitment to bicycle facility planning since the mid-1970s. Over the past 25 years, the town has utilized its bonding authority to develop bike lanes and bike paths, has worked cooperatively to include bike lanes in all state road improvement projects, and has amended its street standards to include bike lanes as a requirement on all collector roads. In recognition of these accomplishments, Carrboro was recently recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists."
