[ARCHIVED] Update on Town of Carrboro Recreation Program Cancelations and Park Closures

Coronavirus

The following is an update from the Carrboro Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department.

Due to the current public health situation related to coronavirus/COVID-19, and recommendations provided by various agencies, all department programs, events, reservations, and meetings have been canceled through May 15, 2020.

Program cancellations include all programs, classes, and special events.  Additionally, all Spring athletic leagues have been cancelled.

At this time, no new facility reservations are being accepted through May 15th.  For inquiries regarding future reservations, patrons are asked to contact our Facilities Division Information Office at 919.918.7365. 

Participants will receive a credit on their accounts.  Participants who prefer to have their registration fee balances refunded are asked to contact our Administrative Assistant via email at dsanders@townofcarrboro.org

PARKS AND FACILITIES UPDATE:
At this time, all Town of Carrboro parks are open, but many of the amenities within the parks remain closed.  A list of which areas are open and closed is below.  For open areas, we ask that everyone follow social distancing best practices when visiting these sites:

OPEN:
Fishing Pond - Hank Anderson Park
Dirt Walking Track - Carrboro Elementary School
Trail Systems - Adams Tract, Hank Anderson Park
Walking Trail - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park
Parking Lots - All parks

CLOSED:
Restrooms
Pavilions/Picnic Shelters
Playgrounds
Dog Park
Picnic Tables
Baseball/Softball Fields
Soccer Fields
Bicycle Pump Tracks
Tennis Courts
Basketball Courts
Horseshoe Courts
Volleyball Courts
Amphitheatres

For open areas, we kindly ask for everyone’s cooperation as we implement these social distancing measures.

Until further notice, all Town of Carrboro buildings are currently closed to the public, but staff will still be working to maintain Town services.  Due to the facility closures, patrons are encouraged to conduct business online or by email or phone.

The Town will continue to work with other local and regional agencies and monitor the situation and we will provide updates as they occur.
