[ARCHIVED] Important COVID-19 Parks and Facilities Status Update

Based on the Governor’s guidance and recommendations provided by various agencies, all Town of Carrboro parks remain open, but indoor facilities remain closed at this time.

A list of which areas have been open and which are re-opening September 11th is below. For open areas, we ask that everyone follow social distancing, wear face coverings, and use best practices when visiting these sites:

CURRENTLY OPEN:
Restrooms
Individual Picnic Tables
Disc Golf Course - Hank Anderson Park
Tennis/Pickleball Courts (singles play only)
Fishing Pond - Hank Anderson Park
Dirt Walking Track - Carrboro Elementary School
Trail Systems - Adams Tract, Hank Anderson Park
Walking Trail - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park
Open Space and Parking Lots - All parks
Town Commons Pavilions

RE-OPENING SEPTEMBER 11th, 2020
Park Pavilions/Picnic Shelters
Playgrounds
Dog Park – Hank Anderson Park
Bicycle Pump Tracks – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park
Tennis/Pickleball Courts (Both singles and doubles play permitted. No organized league play.)
Baseball/Softball Fields
Soccer Fields
Basketball Courts
Horseshoe Courts
Volleyball Courts
Amphitheaters

* Reservations will be accepted again beginning September 11th and they are limited to a maximum of 25 people.  All other reservations remain suspended until further notice, including all reservations for the Century Center.

Exceptions may be made for Town-sponsored events. 

In situations where social distancing cannot be maintained, masks are required.

CLOSED:
Indoor Town Facilities

Participants are asked to NOT bring tents, tables, and chairs to parks that may encourage large gatherings.

The Town will continue to work with other local and regional agencies and monitor the situation so that we keep the safety and well-being of the public first. We will provide updates as they occur.
