UPDATE - Contractor plans to start work on Sunday, July 14 during same nightly schedule described below.
CARRBORO, N.C. -- Jones Ferry Road from the intersection at W. Main Street to the intersection at Old Fayetteville Road will be undergoing roadwork in a NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) project starting on Monday, July 14.
The project includes milling and micro-milling, paving, and installing pavement markings. The pavement marking plan will include the protected eastbound bike lane and a new buffered westbound bike lane. The installation of buffered bike lanes in both directions along this section of Jones Ferry Road is one of the top five priorities identified in the Town’s 2021 Bicycle Plan update.
Weather permitting, work is anticipated to be completed within two weeks with crews working Sunday night through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians should stay alert when traveling in this area and anticipate temporary lane closures until the project is completed.
