General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Early voting begins Thursday, Oct. 17. Orange County offers early voting to all eligible, registered Orange County voters who wish to vote early, in-person. Absentee voting by mail is available to all registered Orange County voters who wish to vote by mail rather than at a one-stop early voting site or on Election Day.
If you decide to vote on election day, November 5th, you must vote at your assigned polling place. To find out your assigned polling place and view a sample ballot on Election Day, use the Voter Search Tool located on the Orange County Elections Webpage.

Early voting from Oct. 17 through Nov. 2
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5 but you can vote early if that is more convenient. The early voting period begins on Thursday, Oct. 17 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 2. Orange County residents can vote at any early voting site.
Early Voting Sites:
- Orange Works at Hillsborough Commons (in lieu of BOE office): 113 Mayo St, Hillsborough
- Carrboro Town Hall Complex: 108 Bim St., Carrboro
- Chapel Hill Library: 100 Library Dr, Chapel Hill
- Chapel of the Cross: 304 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill
- Seymour Senior Center: 2551 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill
- *Efland – Cheeks Community Center: 117 Richmond Rd, Efland (new site)
Polls will be open:
- Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Request your mail-in ballot now through Oct. 29
Any North Carolina registered voter may request and receive a mail-in absentee ballot. No special circumstance is needed. You may request your absentee ballot NOW through Oct. 29 for the Nov. 5, 2024 election. A registered voter or their near relative or legal guardian must complete, sign and return the request form.
