The Town of Carrboro is excited to present our Annual Holiday Program for 2020!
Each year, the Town welcomes the community to gather in front of Town Hall for the lighting of the holiday tree along with remarks from our elected officials and songs from our local school children. Due to the current public health situation, the event will be presented in a virtual format.
We welcome everyone to tune in at https://bit.ly/3a4deaQ (YouTube.com/CarrboroNC) to enjoy a series of video messages, poetry, stories and songs to celebrate the official start of the holiday season here in Carrboro!
For 2020, we are pleased to welcome again our elected officials with special messages for the community. We are also excited to share a special virtual rendition of ‘Winter Wonderland’ as sung by a combined choir from Carrboro Elementary, Frank Porter Graham Elementary, and McDougle Elementary schools.
There will be more holiday-related music with members of the Find Your Own Voices group, who are made up of local musicians and singers who meet regularly to join in song. This year’s event will also feature a couple of holiday-themed poems read by Susan Spalt of the Carrboro Poets Council. Town of Carrboro staff members will share messages including our own Chief Walter Horton who will read “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Look for a special message from "I am Soteria," a local business owner, poet, activist and motivational speaker. Enjoy a flashback to memories and scenes from the 2019 Holiday Parade down Main Street in Carrboro.
All videos will remain accessible for residents to enjoy at their leisure throughout the holiday season.
We hope that everyone will enjoy the program, and we look forward to being able to gather together again in the future!
