News from the Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA)
OWASA is continuing construction of our Jones Ferry Road Water Line Resiliency Improvements Project. Work is currently occurring only on the OWASA campus at the Water Treatment Plant on Jones Ferry Road.
Periodic lane closures of Jones Ferry Road will be required in front of the Water Treatment Plant to carry out the work safely. Work in the roadway will generally occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Lane closures are anticipated the week of April 11, 2022. Tuesday through Thursday, April 12-14, one lane will be closed for a portion of the work to be carried out safely. One lane will be closed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. with flaggers on site to allow for traffic to move through the area safely (see figure below).
The work will include “flushing” a large water line. This means that a large volume of water will be forced through the pipe and will likely involve water in the roadway. We will be monitoring the situation and working to minimize the impact in the road. If the situation dictates that the road needs to be closed in front of the OWASA campus, we will share that information as quickly as we can.
We apologize for any inconvenience associated with this extended lane closure.
